One Block Muscat
One Block is named in memory of living one
block from the World Trade Center on Sept 11th and the fact that these
wines are made from a single block of vines.
Light, fresh and aromatic, with an array of aromas - spring flowers,
passionfruit and lime.
It tantalizes the tongue with crisp fruit and a touch of honey but the palate
has a creamy texture. It is a long
and complex wine, very drinkable either on its own or with food.
Reviews
I really quite like dry Muscat and it's often overlooked or forgotten about
in favour of Gewurz or Torrontes. This is pretty tasty and it really is quite
dry and zingy despite the perfume and overtones of sweetness. Plenty of crushed
blossom, rose petal and aromatic herbs on the nose also the freshness of the
palate stops this being soapy or blousy as candied stone fruit is just held in
check. Very tasty, drink this Summer and look forward to the next vintage. [Noel

Viticulture
Hand harvested from Muscat Petit Grains grown on stony clay on the lower
slopes of the hill of Le Roubau.
This Muscat is the first wine of the harvest. We wait until the
balance of fruit flavour and acidity in the grapes is perfect and then choose the rows of the vineyard most suited to this
wine.
Winemaking
After de-stemming and cold settling overnight, the must is fermented under
refrigeration in stainless steel tanks. At the end of fermentation the wine is stirred
on its lees twice a week to for 6 weeks to give the wine a creamier texture and to fine it naturally thus avoiding the need
for chemical additions.
The finished wine is then racked off its lees and allowed to cold stabilize
naturally over winter. It receives a single filtration before bottling. This natural settling retains more of the beautiful aromatic, floral
qualities of the wine.
