La Terre Promise, 2017
Ripe greengages and the merest hint of (benign) reduction on the nose. Really spicy and broad on the palate. The oak influence is (just) held in check. This is a really interesting wine: broad, long and tense. Unlike any other I can think of, though there are echoes of other fine, characterful Roussillon whites. Very long. Goes on and on, on the back palate. 17
Planete Rose, 2018
Quite a dark strawberry pink. Masses of well-defined fruit on the nose with lots of grip on the palate. Very emphatic wine with masses of personality. A rosé for food. Well done. 16.5
Le Rescapé, 2017
Pale to mid crimson. Jonathan Hesford of Treloar recommended chilling this to 15 °C which I did. Meaty nose. Then very sweet, round charming palate. Is this archetypal glou glou? Seems a bit more serious than that. There is some Carignan grip here but no shortage of fruit. A breezy, super-fruity wine. Far from complex but super-charming. This would make a summer holiday lunch go with a swing. And would presumably be lapped up in the right Paris wine bar... 16
Deep healthy crimson. Headily scented ripe blackberry cordial (Mourvèdre all right!). Admirably fresh palate with a lightness of touch. Gentle, approachable fruit with an interesting undertow. Racy. (Which is good!) A certain meatiness in Mourvèdre vein but not excessively warm and alcoholic. Quite long. A very pleasing whole. 16.5
